The reigning European 400m Hurdles champion, Rhys Williams, is the latest high profile athlete likely to feature in the 63rd Cork City Sports on Tuesday 8th July. Son of the legendary J.J. Williams who is regarded as one of the greatest rugby wingers of all time, a star of the famed Wales and British & Irish Lions back-line of the seventies, Rhys Williams is targeting Cork as an important race in the lead up to defending his European crown and also claiming gold for Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Williams has a hurdles PB of 48.54sec and will certainly provide the ideal challenge for the likes of home hurdlers Thomas Barr and Jason Harvey to lower their lifetime bests.
