Winner of the Cork City Sports Athletic Person of the Month Award for June is the current All Ireland Schools senior champion for the triple jump Tim Harrington.
Representing Bandon Athletic Club, Harrington achieved a magnificent double at the recent National Junior Championships in Tullamore winning both the Long Jump and Triple Jump events and highlighting his huge potential in both these disciplines. Earlier over the June holiday weekend young Harrington had captured the the coveted All-Ireland Schools triple jump title representing Kinsale Community School where he also won a bronze medal in the long jump.
The seventeen year old native from near Ballinspittle showed he is well capable of mixing with the best seniors at international level by finishing 5th.and the leading Irish competitor in the long jump with a 7.01m. effort at the 58th.Cork City Sports at the Mardyke.
