DERVAL FACES WELLS & LOPES-SCHLIEP IN CORK.
Former world indoor hurdles champion, Derval O'Rourke will face very stiff opposition on her home track at the CIT Athletic Stadium next Saturday when the 59th.Cork City Sports takes place.

The Douglas native, who has started her outdoor season in a most impressive manner with a recent 12.80 sec.clocking on the continent will face two of the best hurdlers in the world in a race which will surely benefit her preparations for the upcoming European Championships to be held in Barcelona at the end of July.

Kellie Wells from the USA comes straight to Cork having finished second to the great Lolo Jones in the U.S National Championships over the weekend so is in top form. Her hurdles pb.is 12.58s. Even faster is the ultra consistant Priscilla Lopes-Schliep from Canada who ran 12.49s.some years ago and is primarily racing in Cork to sharpen up for some Diamond League events in Europe over the next few weeks.

It would be a tremendous achievement for Derval before a passionate home following to claim the scalp of either Wells or the Canadian who has won medals at Olympic Games and World Championships.

Two other quick Americans Nichole Denby and April Garner are also in the line-up for what may prove to be the fastest womens hurdles race ever seen in Ireland.
